October 28, 2012 - Just becasue we are not having an actual light show for 2012 doesnt mean we cant make a video that you can enjoy. Next year we plan on moving to a new venue and continue to share the Halloween spirit. Check out our FB and our Website for updates.
July 1, 2012 - Welcome to the new Creative Lighting Displays website. We have moved the site so we have more control and can make quicker updates. The move is not completely finished and we still have a few more items to add, but about 80% is complete. Feel free to look around and please leave a comment on our Guestbook page. Also you should be able to view our online store very soon. Its just about complete.
An update about 2012 show....
We live in a HOA community. Unfortunately there are a few neighbors in the community that didn’t like the display we created. The display drew in thousands of people each night. We would say for the most part, the visitors were kind and respectful….very family oriented, but with that many people also comes a few problems. Trash, blocking driveways and damage to property....aka stepping on flowers and lawns. Plus the traffic though-out the streets was a nightmare. Also with the added craziness of LMFAO Kia Commercial which put more fuel on the fire. Oh and to the contrary, we did not receive a Kia Car or anything like that which many speculated. LMFAO wanted to film a commercial at our home…how could we say no?? If they wanted us to pay them, we would have :-)
We have been putting on shows for several years in the same community and many of our neighbors would come out to watch every night. It’s a shame that some of those same neighbors in the community now do not wish the display to remain. We were taken by surprise and unprepared for the amount of people that shows up….lining up at 2pm in the afternoon when the show didn’t start until 7:30pm.
Well, all good things come to an end. The HOA issued a new set of “Holiday Display” rules on behest on the few that complained. Basically the new rules shut us down because the display to too “extreme”. We feel the rules only apply to us and no one else, but it’s across the board so we can’t argue that point. We were in talks with the city to work out a plan to make the show run smoother and not be a burden on the neighbors like traffic control, porta-potties, trash collectors, police presents, ect. Now none if it is needed.
At this time, we not sure of our plans for the 2012 season….if anything. We are in talks with a few new locations but being so late (already July) and these shows take many, many months to plan….we are unsure if we can make it this season. We will keep you posted if the plans change.
LMFAO contacted us about create a lighting effects for their new music video “Sorry for Party Rockin”. We were given two days to program and install our lighting set at Universal Studios Back Lot. The location was at the “Chicken Ranch” which is existing house on the lot and was painted into many bright colors and turned into a “Party House”. This was all very last minute as we are gathering that everything is last minute within this business. lol It was a very challenging, but fun project. We worked two very long days to outline the entire front of the house with our lighting gear. We also used the Light-O-Rama new software S3 “Instant Sequence” for the programming which helped tremendously with time. The filming took two long nights and looks very funny. So much was going on that I didn’t even get a chance to talk with the guys…maybe next time on another future project?
This is the Vizualizer screen capture I sent to LMFAO of our idea for the lighting effects on the "Party Rock" house. Not all lighting was used (bushes and trees) and some additional items were added later.
LMFAO & Halloween Light Show House - Party Rock Anthem & Sexy and I Know It Closing performance for the AMAs (American Music Awards) on November 20, 2011
LMFAO contacted me two weeks ago and wanted to use my Party Rock video
for the AMAs, but also wanted me to create a new light show for Sexy and I Know
It. It was all last minute, but it was fun working on this project. Thanks to
LMFAO and their management/team for asking me to be part of creating the
performance. A big thanks to Vidaroo for working so hard on the video. The
performance was great and I had a lot of fun. The only somewhat disappointing
part was the AMA started the house video 2 secs late and the sync was off. Oh
well...who's complaining...it was on the AMAs!!
KIA Soul Shuffle Slam Commercial with LMFAO at Halloween House
Kia Soul Shuffle Slam commercial filmed at my house in Riverside, CA on Oct 30, 2011 with LMFAO & Quest Crew. A BIG THANK YOU to RedFoo, SkyBlu, Quest Crew, Rockhard Films, David & Goliath Agency and of course KIA Motors for giving me, my family and our neighborhood an AMAZING experience....and a good...good...good time!!!
This video is what started it all andCreative Lighting Displayswas formed.
4 singing pumpkin faces, tombstones, hand carved pumpkins, strobes, floods and thousands of lights. Most all lights have been changed from incandescent to RGB LED so power consumption is a lot less than previous years. Also DMX added to show. All lights, faces and props are custom made (DIY) by me except for the roof line which are CCRs. Controlling channels have gone up 8X from last year. 1144 channels.
